Öland's Own Vineyard and Distillery

Wannborga Bränneri & Vingård is a small family-run vineyard and micro-distillery in the medieval village of Övra Wannborga, just north of Borgholm. They grow cold-climate grapes (around 3,800 vines across 2 hectares) and produce small-batch wines, whisky, gin, vodka, grappa, and calvados — all from a converted old milk barn. They also press their own apple and pear juice and make marmalades and chutneys.
The operation has won recognition including “Best Swedish Vineyard” (2012) and a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2025).

Visiting
- Tours and tastings have historically been available by advance booking in summer, but no tours were offered in 2025 and the vineyard was closed for visits. Check their website or contact them directly to see if tours resume in 2026.
- Millas gårdsskafferi (the farm shop at the entrance) is a self-service shop with juices, preserves, and decorative items — check their website for current hours.
- The property also has rental accommodation (four houses on the farm).
Even Without a Visit
You don’t need to visit the farm to try their products — Wannborga wines and spirits are available at Systembolaget stores on Öland and in Kalmar, or orderable to any Systembolaget in Sweden. Worth picking up a bottle of their locally produced wine or gin.
A beautiful small-scale operation in a charming setting — but confirm visit availability before driving out.
